We had another great event this weekend October 10 and 11th in Alabama. We had 26 boats with 31 veterans and family attend in Athens, Alabama. We couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day to be on the water. At the end of the day, everyone was able to wrangle in some fish. There was a total of 1500 pounds of fish caught and released. We ate some delicious food during the event. Thanks to our cooks, Larry, Paul, Joe, and Scott. Thank you to the Fitzsimmons and Lynch Family Companies for donating the pork and brisket. All the veterans were given Patriot rods from Catch the Fever Rods and reels and tackle bags from Bottom Dwellers Tackle. Thank you to all the rest of our sponsors and volunteers. We wouldn’t be able to make this happen without your support. Thank you to all the veterans and family members who were able to attend. We look forward to putting on another event in the Spring 2026.
Boaters and Veterans at weigh in after a day on the water.
We just finished our second major event of the year in Rogersville, Alabama. We were honored to have 19 veterans participate in our friendly catfishing competition. Each veteran was taken out by 19 volunteer boaters who graciously gave their time and showed our veterans how to catch trophy catfish. Our veterans and our boaters came from all over the US. We were blessed with great weather and had a great time on the water. Everyone was able to catch fish with the majority catching their personal best in this event. Our banquet was held at The Cotton Gin where our veterans were treated to some great food and drinks. The atmosphere was filled with stories, laughter and comradery. New friendships were made and several boaters and veterans are planning to fish together again. Austin Williams, a talented young man who wanted to show his gratitude for our military performed for our guests on Friday night. Our event was a success with the hard work of our PCF family, volunteers and sponsors. Each veteran was given a rod, reel and gift bag full of goodies.

Patriot Catfishing, Inc. held our first major event for disabled veterans in Rogersville, Alabama on March 19-21. We invited 14 disabled veterans and family to enjoy a friendly catfishing competition. These men and women come from all over the country and served in all branches of the armed forces. We had the honor of fishing with Waylon Steinman and family. He is Purple Heart recipient who served in the 5th Special Forces Group. We served together on several combat rotations. We caught his personal best catfish and so did his son.
I first met Jack at a pheasant hunting trip in South Dakota. He served in the 101st Airborne Division and was wounded in Afghanistan. He lost both his legs and sustained severe damage to his right arm. He is an inspiration to me and the reason I started my foundation. He could have gone into a depression and given up on life, but not him. He has a wonderful wife and two great little boys. He is living life to the fullest and I am honored to have met him and consider him family. We have had Jack come down from Minnesota to fish and hunt with us numerous times. Anyone who has met him will find his story inspiring.
